The next installment of the Track & Field arcade sports series developed by Konami. The players can once again test their reflexes and endurance of their fingertips in a number of Olympic competitions. A new feature this installment are the disciplines that require specific actions at a given time. Mechanics The devs have prepared eleven competitions for the players, including 100-meter dash, canoeing, cycling sprint, hammer and javelin throws, free-style swimming, horse-riding, and weightlifting. Most of the struggle consists in pressing the indicated buttons as soon as possible. A novelty in International Track & Field 2 are the disciplines in which the rivalry consists in performing the commands presented on the screen in a specified time. This is how the players compete for medals in weightlifting and trampoline jumping, among other things. Konami has also added the possibility of a risky finishes in a given competition. In case of a good execution of such an action, player's character may gain a few meters or milliseconds in the race by leaning their body. Failure is associated with the athlete tripping and losing. Technical aspects International Track & Field 2 features 3D visuals, trying to simulate the environment surrounding the competition for Olympic medals as faithfully as possible. The title is best suited for multiplayer gameplay, in which up to four people can participate, thanks to the use of a multitap.
