The Tomorrow Children for PS4 is an action game, in which the players cooperate to get resources and build a city, terrorized by huge beasts. The game was created by Japanese studio Q-Games, founded in 2001 by Dylan Cuthbert and known for e.g. the Pixel Junk franchise. The Tomorrow Children was officially announced during the 2014 Gamescom. PlotThe story of The Tomorrow Children is set in the future, in a world destroyed in a failed Soviet experiment in the 1960s. The experiment was supposed to result in joining all human minds into one consciousness. The catastrophe left few people alive; 90 years later they still strive to survive, using modern technology. You play as a young clone, who, just like their brothers and sisters, lives in the mysterious “void,” inhabited by enormous hostile creatures. The clones live in a society divided into classes, based on skewed Marxist ideals. MechanicsThe game features a third-person perspective. You start out as an ordinary proletarian of the lowest status, whose task is to gather materials and resources necessary for their home city to prosper. Like in Minecraft and similar games, you use tools to dig underground, cut down trees or dissect fossilized corpses of the fallen monsters. As a reward, you earn slips of paper/coupons, which you can exchange for new abilities, enhancing your effectiveness and strength. After some time, you can build various buildings and other structures, and use resources to create useful items and weapons. The ultimate goal is to find as much matryoshka dolls as possible, as the dolls contain the DNA of the people killed in the disaster. After getting them into the city, you gain new citizens and workers, which can repair the damages and restock supplies while you're gone. Another interesting element is the elections, in which a new mayor is selected every few days. The mayor gives you economy- and combat-relates boosts. The strong point of The Tomorrow Children is its multiplayer mode, similar to the one in Dark Souls. From time to time, you encounter other players, whom you may help. All the players share the in-game world and can affect it. Technical aspectsThe game features interesting 3D graphics, inspired by Soviet propaganda. The distinct visuals are complemented by solemn march music.
