Game description:
Machinarium for PC, PS3 and etc. is another creation of Amanita Design an independent Czech studio popular for both the installments in the series of Flash-based adventure games Samorost. These games gained a large group of fans and the latest one was awarded the main price for the best browser game, during the ninth edition of the Independent Games Festival. Similar to the Samorost series, Machinarium is a two-dimensional adventure game based on the classic point-and-click mechanics. Interestingly, the game features unusual visuals. PlotMachinarium for PC, PS3 and etc. offers a bizzare game world made entirely of metal. The player does not encounter any plants, wildlife or humans all of them were replaced by different kinds of robots. The protagonist is one of them of course. He was wrongfully sent away to a junkyard, but when the player meets him for the first time, he is back in town. The protagonist encounters members of the Black Cap Brotherhood, who have planned to attack the headquarters of the town leader, located in the main tower. The protagonist decides to stop them, but he also has to save his girlfriend along the way. MechanicsMachinarium for PC, PS3 and etc. is not an experience which lasts for very long completing the game takes about seven hours, but the gameplay itself is rather dynamic. The game does not feature excessively difficult puzzles or redundant stopovers. In order for the little mechanical protagonist to take or use an item, it has to be within his arms' reach. All the actions (including even the simplest ones) are presented in the form of unique animations created specifically for particular objects. Technical aspectsThe game stands out with its audiovisuals definitely. All the in-game locations were hand-drawn and inspired by industrial architecture, old and rusty machines, as well as by science-fiction literature. In the entire game, a single word is not uttered the plot is presented through adequate character animations, paintings and a portion of symbolism. The soundtrack for the game was composed by the same artist who worked on the Samorost series Tomбљ Dvoшбk, otherwise known as Floex.
